The level most guests choose
Mid-Range Safaris
Comfortable lodges and tented camps, a private vehicle and the same guiding as every other tier — the middle band is where most Tanzania safaris land, and for good reason.
- Lodges and tented camps
- Same guiding as every tier
- Private 4x4 throughout
Overview
Why Most People Choose It
Mid-range Tanzania safaris — comfortable lodges and tented camps, a private 4x4 and the same guiding as every tier. The level most of our guests choose.
Real comfort, sensible cost
A proper bed, hot water and a good dinner at the end of a long game-drive day, without the premium the top tier carries.
The guiding does not change
Your guide, your vehicle and your route are the same at every tier. Accommodation is the variable.
A mix of lodges and camps
Solid lodges where they make sense, tented camps where the position is better — chosen park by park.
Easy to adjust
Move a single night up to the luxury tier for a special occasion and leave the rest as it is.

Why Most Safaris Land Here
Comfort where it counts
A safari day is long. You are usually up before six, out in a vehicle on rough tracks for much of the day, and back covered in dust. What you want that evening is a hot shower that works, a bed you sleep properly in and a decent dinner. The mid-range tier delivers all three reliably, and that is most of what comfort means out here.
The honest trade against luxury
What you give up is mainly position and space. A mid-range lodge is more likely to sit just outside the park boundary, which costs you some driving in the morning, and the rooms are closer together. What you keep is the same guide, the same vehicle, the same parks and the same animals.
For most first safaris that trade is clearly worth it — and the saving is often what makes the difference between six nights and nine.
Where we would spend the extra
If you have some flexibility in the budget, our advice is consistent: put it into nights inside the Serengeti rather than into grander rooms everywhere. One or two well-positioned nights change the trip more than a uniform upgrade across it.
What to expect
What a Mid-Range Night Looks Like
- An en-suite room or tent Proper bed, private bathroom, hot water — reliably, not occasionally.
- Full board Breakfast, a packed or served lunch depending on the day, and a cooked dinner.
- Power for charging Mains or generator power for cameras and phones, though not always around the clock at bush camps.
- A pool at many lodges Common at mid-range lodges on the northern circuit, less so at tented camps.
- Mosquito nets and screening Standard at this tier throughout.

7 day awesome safari
We had the best time ever on the 7 day safari (Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro). Eric organized everything perfectly and was always available when needed. You can trust him on organizing your safari with your eyes closed! Our guide Noeli was amazing, he has a lot of experience as a safari guide and has vast knowledge on animals, plants, ecosystems, the culture.. He was able to answer our questions. He spotted so many animals and birds for us, and was very patient while we photographed everything. We even got to see the honey badger!! We really recommend going with Noeli, thanks a lot again for taking us to those beautiful places.I really recommend this tour company and would definitely do it again!

Very Wonderful Safari Trip
Lappet Faced Safari left a very good impression on me about Safari. When discussing the itinerary, Francisco responded very promptly and provided a lot of useful suggestions; during the entire trip, there were no extra costs or extra services. During this trip, we are very grateful to our guide Mike, who worked tirelessly to help us find animals and introduced various animal knowledge, making us have a very enjoyable trip; we also booked a ride from Arusha to Kilimanjaro For the airport shuttle bus, thank you to Noel for his superb driving skills; and thank you to Francisco for helping us book a fruit lunchbox in advance so that we did not go hungry. We were very satisfied with this trip.

excellent experience
The magical African Great Migration trip was very well arranged by Lappet Faced. The accommodations were very comfortable, and some places even exceeded our expectations. The experienced guide took us to appreciate the various animals on the African grasslands and discovered various surprises, including lions, cheetahs, hunting dogs, elephants, giraffes, and even the spectacular wildebeest crossing the Mara River. They also took us to appreciate the local African culture. The whole trip left a deep impression on us. Thank you Lappet Faced for your service.
